Lecturer (m/f) Animation/Motion Design for ZHdK |

For 1 October 2012, ZHdK – Zürcher Hochschule der Künste is looking for a lecturer (m/f) in the area of animation/motion design for the bachelor study program in design (CAST/audiovisual media course) within the design department. The position represents 30-40% of a full-time position.
With around 2500 students and 1300 employees, ZHdK offers studies in the areas of design, film, art, media, music, dance, theatre and intermediation of arts under one roof.
The CAST/audiovisual media study course trains audiovisual designers for online and mobile media. The course focus is on the creation and production of short formats and their distribution in the web 2.0 world. "Short stories for the small screen" is the motto of this study course.
Tasks: You are expected to teach from 25 to 30 block and single days (per semester) within modules like 'animated information graphics', 'animated cartoons' and similar; introduction to After Effects; intermediation of basics of animation and stop-motion technique or digital cut-out; supervision of student bachelor projects; development of new animation modules at the interface social media/visual journalism; cooperation with other lecturers within trans-disciplinary modules; collaboration in the development of the CAST/audiovisual media study area.
Profile/Requirements: you have a university or a university of applied science degree, have at least 5 years working experience or design practice and the ability to teach our students in the requested subjects. Teaching experience and the readiness for academic development is desirable. We expect good German and English knowledge, excellent skills in handling After Effects (if possible also with stop-motion) and an independently developed artistic style.
We particularly welcome applicants who work as designers in the area of animation/motion graphics in addition to their teaching activity.
