Entries from 20 countries for the
11th International Eyes & Ears Awards – Innovation & Effectiveness 2009 |

Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Poland, the Ukraine, Russia, Austria, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Egypt and Germany – with 20 nations represented, the list of countries participating in the 11th International Eyes & Ears Awards is longer than ever before. A total of 453 contributions by 208 companies were submitted to this year's competition.
"Never before have media, communication and dialogue companies from so many countries taken part in the International Eyes & Ears Awards. We are pleased with the international reaction and the high quality of the submissions. The wide participation shows that audio-visual communication creation is becoming increasingly significant internationally for TV, film, radio, Internet, mobile, games and events," says Wout Nierhoff, CEO of Eyes & Ears of Europe. This year marks the 11th time Eyes & Ears of Europe, the business association for Design, Promotion and Marketing of audiovisual media, has recognized the most outstanding production achievements of the year with the International Eyes & Ears Awards, presented during the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN media congress. The International Eyes & Ears Awards 2009 will be conferred in the categories 'TV/Film/Media Design,' 'Audio Design & Composition,' 'Interactive Design, Promotion & Branding' and 'Promotion/Advertising/Image.'

The top three entries in each of the 33 Eyes & Ears Awards categories are chosen by the Eyes & Ears of Europe pre-selection committees. The following working groups meet for pre-selection: 'TV/Film/Media Design' at Red Bee Media in London, 'Promotion/Advertising/Image' at Schweizer Fernsehen in Zürich, 'Interactive Design, Promotion & Branding' at Interone Worldwide in Cologne, 'Audio Design & Composition' at ARTE in Strasbourg. On 27 & 28 August 2009, the European Council for the Design, Promotion & Marketing of Audio-Visual Media convenes at ORF in Vienna in order to select the International Eyes & Ears Awards 2009 winners from amongst the groups of finalists.
In addition, on 29 October 2009 at the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN, Eyes & Ears of Europe will be presenting its special achievement awards for INNOVATION & EFFECTIVENESS. The highlight of the event is the presentation of the International Eyes & Ears Excellence Award. Last year, this prize for outstanding contributions to the design and reflection of audio-visual communication was awarded to Yello – Dieter Meier and Boris Blank. Former laureates of the Eyes & Ears Excellence Award are Robert Wilson, Manfred Becker, Peter Weibel, Anton Corbijn, Peter Lamont, Hermann Vaske, Sky Du Mont, Martin Lambie-Nairn, Roman Kuhn and Oliviero Toscani. |
